Hair is Overrated

Were it socially acceptable, I’d shave my head.

Really! I would! I hate hair in general. No, my hair is not fried, thin nor gray; I just don’t like it. It’s a hassle – without it, I could sleep in a half hour longer every day. Why do people invest so much time in their hair? It’s just a ton of keratin and sulfur piled on your head: a fire accident just waiting to happen.

My theory is that having thick hair is a sign of youth and having shiny hair is a sign of health and hygiene. We are evolved to look for these key components in mates because the resulting offspring will also be virile and healthy. Such doctrine extends to those people chose as friends. People want healthy, good-smelling friends in general because such is pleasant and other people will associate you with your friends. The non-superficial type of person is far more likely to have fat, smelly and/or bald friends.

Why don’t I go ahead and shave it off? Well, I don’t think I’d get jobs too easily nor customers at work. They’re too conditioned to relating hair to worth of a human being. Therefore, I just cut it as short as I can get away with. Stupid crap.
