Please help stop the cruel Canadian seal hunt.
Canada’s annual seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on the planet. Last year, the world looked on in horror as the Canadian government permitted the slaughter of more than 330,000 harp seals. Baby seals are shot or repeatedly clubbed, an estimated 42 percent are skinned alive, and their bodies are left to rot on the ice floes. Veterinarians who studied past hunts found that hunters failed to comply with Canada’s basic animal welfare standards.
All kind people are heartbroken at the slaughter of these innocent animals, but being heartbroken is not enough. Please contact Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and demand that he put an end to the cruel slaughter of baby seals.
Just in case you don’t know, this is what happens:
This is what I wrote to the Prime Minister:
Mr. Harper, please consider my plea to stop this cruel ritual. There is no good reason for such atrocities to be committed, no pressing need to be fulfilled by the horrific destruction of helpless animals. All that this terrible waste does is fuel a petty, useless greed for fancy things at a terrible price. The developed world tries its best to purge the remnants of our savage past – crusades, hate crimes, ignoble wars – yet Canada persists in hanging on to this glaring abomination for a sake no higher than profits and novelty! Sir, please consider what this rapacity costs those being killed.
Please have a heart and a strong conscience! Sign this petition and please never buy fur!
